Frank bridge foundation (FBF) is a non-governmental organization with a mission to carter for the well-being of all especially the less privileged and the vulnerable. This mission will be focusing on the area of health, education and economic transformation.
The foundation is registered in Nigeria with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Through perseverance, hard-work and uncompromising commitment to the pursuit of excellence, Frank Bridge Foundation is emerging as a non-governmental organization of repute in Nigeria with headquarters in Enugu.
Prior to the official registration of FBF, we had severally been carrying out free medical outreach in many rural areas where there is remarkable paucity of medical facilities.
From the experience of three visits it became evident that the standard of development in any community (rural or semi urban or urban) and often be calibrated by the standard of functional health facilities in the area, especially the trained and skilled personnel. It significantly enhances healthy workforce and consequently the socio economic performance of the community. At community level, it facilitates in addition to socio economic transformation the domifications percentage of the community. In economically emerging communities arising from some special economic hub e.g., Agricultural or industrial, there is usually an enhanced presence of health services otherwise such a center will not develop and will remain an economic camp which would soon be shifted. At the state and national levels significant production time and real capital flight will be experienced due to medical tourism.
Our experience indicated the paucity of well trained and skilled personnel more than the paucity of developed and approvable structures. This unfortunately has led the prevalence of dependency on quacks and the native herbal healers with no tool for diagnosis or appropriate dosing of the herbal remedies. The activities of quacks and the native herbal doctor has led to many complication and death.
As a consequence of this realization, the foundation, FBF has in addition to regular clinic on medical outreach specially focused on health education and training for health care givers.
